ABOUT

I'm thrilled to introduce myself to you. My name is Melissa Flores and I am an artist, a fifteen year veteran special ed./elementary school teacher, a writer, an actress, and a photographer. I am part of the CZT (Certified Zentangle Teacher) #36 class and I cannot wait to share my love for art and Zentangle with you!

I was first drawn to Zentangle about ten years ago when I spotted a book about it in Barnes and Noble. I immediately knew this is what I have always wanted to learn-- a meditative yet beautiful art form for releasing stress.I loved the concept but I didn't have the time nor the resources to really learn it. I way too busy working as a teacher but I figured that "one day" I would come back to it.

In 2016, I was diagnosed with Lyme disease complications and two rare disorders. I had to stop working as a teacher full time and devote all of my time and energy towards healing. I am STILL working on healing, almost five years later. But the idea of doing any art was so far from my mind. It was a struggle just to get out of bed most days. When the COVID pandemic hit and we were forced to remain in lock down, Zentangle miraculously resurfaced in my life and I started taking live classes with CZTs online. It was then that I witnessed firsthand how Zentangle can organically calm a person's nervous system in order to promote healing and allow positive neurochemicals to flow throughout the body.

As I continue to rewire my brain for healing, I am committed to becoming a better Zentangle artist and to share my love for this amazing technique with people from all walks of life. As a colored pencil artist, photographer, and painter, I also intend to include other "ZenFlo" methods of art in other mediums which can help to calm the mind and channel your inner creative being.

If you would like to book a class with me, please contact me via my email or phone number and I would be more than happy to share my love for Zentangle and my passion for the arts with you! I can't wait to help you on your own journey of art and discovery.
